There are going to be times where you have no internet connection and you can’t do anything online. Not a problem though! There are still things you can do to keep adding and expanding your business. Here we have 4 different things I do when I’m exploring the planet and happen to have no internet connection.
In the middle of a jungle, the middle of a desert… Or just a place with stupidly bad signal, here’s what you can do:
1. Continuing Writing!
Just because you don’t have an internet connection it doesn’t mean you stop writing that awesome content all of your readers/subscribers like to chew up everyday.
All computers come with some sort of word processing software, or you can get your hands on something cheap/free. If you are a windows user you have Microsoft WORD and if you’re an awesome Mac user then you can use Pages to create your posts. So because you don’t have to have an internet connection to use these bits of software then you can use them anywhere.
Once you have access to the internet again, you can copy and paste you’re literary awesomeness on your website. If you can write several then you can schedule them to be published at different times. That way if you’re not near an internet connection again for a while your site is still publishing posts whilst you’re off doing whatever it is you’re off doing.
Pretty sweet if I do say… I do this quite often as I’m travelling around.
2. Snap Snap Snap… Strike a Pose
Getting images for your website is probably one of the most difficult thing you’ll probably come across running a website, at least it you want to adhere to that little thing called copyright.
I know a lot of people who use places like PhotoDune where you can purchase some awesome photos, some even less than $1! Or you can use other royalty free image sources like Pixabay, but not quite the selection but hey they’re free. Note: if you do use pixabay, just double check they’re public domain use, this way you can’t get in trouble for copyright infringement and you don’t have to give an attribution either.
An option which people don’t think of though is take you’re own pictures! Nowadays everyone has a very good phone, most popular right now being the iPhone, and they have very good cameras on them. So get snapping. Take pictures of anything and everything. You may find a use for it in the future and because you are the person who took the picture, you don’t have to worry about copyright or anything like that.
WINNER!
3. Become The Social Butterfly
It’s amazing the different types of people you can meet from day to day, many of whom have interesting talents.
On my travels I met bloggers, photographers, business owners and some adrenaline junkies. Not only have some of these people helped me with business related things but I made friends all over the globe I can go see time and time again. So become a social butterfly and get to meet some new people.
A great place I’ve found to meet people, even though it’s online, is in Facebook groups. (If you’ve not joined our free FB group yet… You should!).
Coffee shops, bars, the local library, Couchsurfers meetings… All places where a wide variety of people meet up and it’s not uncommon to start a conversation with a random stranger.
Bring Your Game Face
So get yourself out there and meet some people, you’ll be surprised on who you could meet! I met a politician from Buenos Aires, Argentina once just by talking to people, now I have an offer to travel around the city for free and go to some awesome tango shows.
Am I going to pass that offer up? Erm… No!
So there’s plenty of things you can do without having an internet connection to keep expanding your business and continue to get work done. Just think outside the box a little bit, take one step outside of your comfort zone and magical things can happen.
Bring your game face dudes and dudettes
