Here’s How You Pitch and Write a Guest Post for That Marketing Dude
I really want to feature you on my site here. I really do! But I’m not going to accept a piece of crap just so you can have a link back to your website.
That’s not how I roll dudes and dudettes!
However, I will help you out by telling you how to can increase the chances of being accepted for a guest post spot. I want my audience of smart dudes and dudettes to really learn something from you and think “Who the hell is this? I want to learn more from them because they know their shizz!”
Sound cool?
Sweet. Follow these steps and you’ll significantly increase your chances of me saying “hell yes!” when you submit your guest post idea.
First Things First:
I only respond to guest post requests from who I really want to work with.
Meaning, if you haven’t followed the information I’ve given you on this page, don’t expect to hear back from me. If your work isn’t great or your ideas seem too “wishy-washy” then you’re not going to be published here.
Cool? Cool.
Read the steps below, follow them and I look forward to talking with you soon!
I WANT TO FEATURE YOU ON THAT MARKETING DUDE!
STEP 1: Be your awesome self!
Pretty self-explanatory. Don’t try acting in a way you THINK you should be acting to get featured. It’ll be obvious if you’re not being your genuine self.
STEP 2: Choose a topic
You have 2 options. You can use the Skyscraper Technique by Brian Dean. Or choose something from one of the topics below, which I want to feature more on this blog. Take you pick from:
- Building/Attracting an audience
- Mindset
- Finding your voice
- Social media marketing
- Video marketing
- Podcasting
- Running a business whilst travelling
- Digital nomad hotspots
- Visa Information for digital nomads
- Different ways to create an income while travelling
- Email marketing
- Copywriting techniques
- Creating engaging headlines
- Landing pages
- Creating a product
- Sales funnels
- Onboarding
- Customer Service
- Conversions
- A/B split testing
- Branding
You have lots to choose from as you can see! The ones bolded are the topics I’m most interested in sharing right now (these are subject to change at any point). You can write about any of them of course and if you pick one that’s not bolded doesn’t mean it won’t be accepted.
However…
IF YOUR POST IS FEWER THAN 1,500 WORDS, I won’t publish it.
IF YOUR POST DOESN’T TEACH THE READER SOMETHING BY THE END OF IT, I won’t publish it.
IF YOUR POST IS BORING AS F**K, I won’t publish it… I want people to actually read your work!
IF YOUR POST IS NOT WELL-RESEARCHED, I won’t publish it.
IF THE HEADLINE IS CRAP AND DOESN’T ENTICE ME TO CLICK IT, I won’t publish it.
IF YOU’RE NOT TALKING TO DIGITAL NOMADS, OR WANNABE DIGITAL NOMADS, BUT ARE TALKING TO THE AVERAGE ENTREPRENEUR WITH THE VOICE OF YOUR POST, I won’t publish it.
IF YOUR POST DOESN’T HAVE ANY IMAGES, I won’t publish it.
I reserve the right to add to the list above at any time.
The topics I’ve suggested you choose from are fairly broad. I want you to dive down a mile deep and an inch wide on something within that topic that you think digital nomads would be interesting in learning more about.
The “rules” might seem harsh, but it’s to make sure you create a GREAT post that people WILL READ.
In the post, I will allow you to have 2 links to your website. 1 link to your homepage in your bio and a link to a social media account, a specific page on your website, a facebook group… Almost anywhere (within reason) you want as well either within the post or in the bio as well. I will also link to your homepage in the introduction to your guest post as well 🙂
STEP 3: Email me your pitch
Send your pitch to luke@thatmarketingdude.com and for the subject line, do the following:
- Start with this: Guest Post Pitch:
- Then finish it with your best headline for your post
Make sure your proposed headline is the absolute best one you can think of. This will require you to come up with at least 25 different variations until you land on the best one. Don’t neglect this part. The headline can make or break your post, as it’s the deciding factor on whether someone clicks through to the post. Also, if the headline really sucks then I’m less likely to even open your email. So make sure it’s a good one!
Here’s how to format the body of your email:
ABOUT ME:
MY WEBSITE:
OVERVIEW: why this topic AND the what the reader will learn by the end of your post. TO REALLY STAND OUT, it would be awesome to see a breakdown of how you’re planning on laying out the post (you can even go section by section to earn bonus points!)
MY KEYWORD PHRASE:
COMPLETION DATE:
When you’re ecstatic with this email… And I mean buzzing off the walls with excitement happy… Hit send! If you go in half-hearted and send in a piece of shit, then don’t expect to here from me. Or even expect me to open an email in the future with a new guest post idea. So please only send in your best work, for the both of us! I really want to help you so you need to make sure you make the effort.
If I like your post idea and want to feature you on the site, you should expect to hear from me within 3-5 days. From there, you can write your post! Again, make sure you write your post to the best of your ability and really wow the reader.
I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully feature you on here!
Happy writing dudes and dudettes!
