EDIT – February 2015: I’m not longer with Hostgator after getting hacked. I took Hostgator a month to respnnd to my requests with the issue which is unacceptable. I’ve switched over to a company called SiteGround and I’ve written a a review of SiteGround over here and these are the guys I’d recommend hosting your sites with. If you’re looking for a host that is. I’m guessing you are if you’re here đ
Crikey! We found ourselves a beauty. We can see the Hostgator in her natural habitat with her excellent customer service and excellent site up-time. She is a real beaut! We’re going to get up close to look at her yummy Hostgator coupon codes and do a real Hostgator web hosting review. Let’s check it out!
Very bad Steve Irwin impression over…
Back to reality! So Hostgator is a web hosting service where you can host all of your websites. With shared hosting, VPS hosting and dedicated hosting on offer, you’re going to find exactly what you need to host all of your websites. So let’s breakdown what they have to offer.
We have been using Hostgator since we got started back in 2011. We were after a hosting company that provides great customer service for when we have problems and excellent up-time so our websites are never offline. We were after something that stank of pure awesomeness just like us. Hostgator was the way we went and haven’t looked back.
At the end of this review I’m going to give you some yummy Hostgator coupons so you can get your’s nice and cheap. Now we all love a bargain!
Hostgator… Why Them? There Are Loads Of Other Hosting Services
Hostgator have been around since 2002 so they know a thing or two about hosting websites. They host over 9,000,000… Yes that’s right over 9 MILLION, websites from over 200 different countries around the world. Now that’s a lot!
Surely they are capable of hosting your website too!
Well… Let’s look at the pros and cons from my experience using Hostgator
Pros and Cons
Like everything out there, there’s good things and bad things. So here’s what I think are the best things about Hostgator
Pros:
- Excellent up-time at 99.9%
- Unlimited Bandwidth (number of visitors coming to your side)
- Unlimited Diskspace (the amount of awesomeness you can save on your websites)
- Unlimited Domains can be hosted (with the baby and business plans)
- Loads of web templates to chose from (over 4,500 to be exact)
- One click WordPress installation
- Unlimited POP3 emails accounts
- Unlimited Autoresponders, Mail Forwards, Email Aliases, Mailing Lists
- 24/7 and 365 days per year customer service. Live chat is excellent
- 45 day money back guarantee
Cons:
- The backend looks very confusing and difficult to navigate
Their email readers are pretty uselessGmail is an awesome solution for this!
Breakdown Of The Cons
When you log into your Hostgator account you have so many options that it’s so darn hard to find what you’re looking for. Their seems to be a lot of upsells and that’s the one thing we cannot stand! Hidden fees are so annoying that it’s no surprise the internet marketing world has been given a bad reputation. Not everyone is that bad… We’ll expose everything for you.
The saving grace with Hostgator though is their 500+ videos that break everything down for you. Anything you need to do, setting up subdomains, changing DNS… Anything! They have a video to explain how to do it.
So after a couple visits you’ll quickly figure out where you need to go. Being a member of Wealthy Affiliate help me a lot when I was trying to find things. Nice to have help when you’re completely confuzzeled!
When it comes to the email side of things. Forget using their email readers. They provide 3 different ones for you, but each one is just as useless as the next.
Thankfully Gmail allows you to import all your domains emails into it… So you have an EASY email reader and you can get all your emails sent to the one Gmail account! Magic! Here’s a video to explain how you can set that up… It really is simple.
Your Hostgator Coupons!
So I’ve managed to get you guys some great deals if you wish to go with Hostgator. I’m happy with them, never had a problem so I can’t see why you guys won’t have the same awesome experience as me.
You have two choices, get 25% off your order, or get $9.94 off. I’d use the 25% personally as you seem to get a better deal for most of their services, but hey, you have a choice!

You can’t say I’m not good to you… Well, at least I hope so.
The Final Verdict Is…
Dude’s Final Opinion:Â It’s the best we’ve seen and we’ve been using it since 2011. EDIT February 2015: I now recommend SiteGround if you’re after a hosting company.
I think Hostgator is great and I have no plans to leave them anytime soon. Once you get over the confusing backend and figure out what most of what’s there is pointless… Then you’re laughing! I’ve even shown you that the guys over at Wealthy Affiliate are helpful in helping navigate the backend too.
If you do decide to go with Hostgator then don’t forget to use the coupon codes I’ve given you above.
One thing I should point out is that if you are planning on starting your own business then you may know that I recommend Wealthy Affiliate as the place to go to get all the up to date training you need to be successful. You actually get free hosting with those guys too! So if you want to sign up for a free account then you get to host two websites completely free of charge. If you sign up for their premium account, then you get to host as many domains as you want there, as part of your membership.
Check out my review of Wealthy Affiliate to see all the other great benefits you get too.
