A lot of people want to travel around the world and see all the exciting things it has to offer. I’ve spoken to lots of friends who wished they went travelling when they were in their early 20’s, but they always had excuses not to go.
They had no money, they had a job, they could just about afford to live at home let alone in a foreign country. All of these excuses are just that… Excuses.
If you want to travel around the world, it’s actually a lot cheaper than most people think. Becoming a digital nomad is pretty simple and easy.
Liquidating Yourself
It’s surprising how much you’re paying out on things that aren’t a necessity. The expensive gym membership, the daily visit to Starbucks and the costs of running a car… All things that can be cut out and you’ll quickly see your monthly expenditure drop by a good 25-40%.
These are all things you wouldn’t need or have to worry about when you’re travelling.
If you can liquidate yourself into the smallest position possible, you’ll quickly see that the basic things aren’t too expensive at home and there are many places around the world that are a lot cheaper!
Deciding On Where To Go
Looking for somewhere fun to visit for a month or looking for somewhere cheap to live for a year? Every country is different and can give you different experiences… Depending on what you’re after.
If you’re looking for somewhere cheap to live for several months then Berlin, Germany or Thailand (actually most countries in Asia in fact) or Central America and even some countries in South America like Argentina are all great places to move to.
Especially if you follow my advice I give here at That Marketing Dude, these are great cheap places to move to with your online business.
This is a great way to become a digital nomad quickly because your business doesn’t need to be making a lot of money so you can live in another country. Move to a cheap country, you don’t need to make so much money… Simple!
But this isn’t for everyone of course. Lots of people won’t want to move to another country, but just want to travel.
Making Money Whilst You’re Away
When you are travelling around you can find some work that will help you fund the next portion of your trip.
You don’t have to go travelling around for months or years at a time, but if you wanted to take a “mini-retirement” for a month in a different country then you can always find a job to fund the time away.
I wrote a post about how you can fund a travel lifestyle, but you can apply it even if you just wanted to spend a month in a different country. Not only will you enjoy being in a new country but you’ll also have some great new experiences and I love nothing better than having some great interesting stories to tell people when I return home.

Take the leap… Stop making excuses for yourself not to do it!
Becoming a digital nomad doesn’t mean you have to go travel the world… You can if you want to but that’s not what it’s all about.
Becoming a digital nomad is about turning your lifestyle into one that is not dependant on being in one particular location. You can move to a different part of the country, or to a different country, whenever you wanted.
Work is wherever you are, which is why I recommend starting your own online business because all you need is a laptop and an internet connection and then boom… You’re always at work whenever you need to be.
Don’t be afraid to change your lifestyle to one that grants you more freedom.
